Hot Daisy Delight

Hi Everyone,
I'm just getting to play with this new Daisy Delight Stamp Set from the new Stampin' Up! Catalog and I'm having a blast with it.
Gotta say this set is a must have in my book!

You know me....I love using stamps to make my own fun backgrounds and couldn't resist using the Daisy stamp to make this one. It's one Hot Daisy, don't you think?

So not only do I like to create backgrounds...I love creating texture of different feels by sponging onto white. You can stay in the same color family that way and have the intensity you are looking for. The Tangerine Tango was sponged onto the white cardstock to create my colored mat on here.
So much fun. What do you think? It's not just a flat color but one of texture and feels wonderful. Something about that ink on paper! lol

I hope you enjoyed my little share today....

BTW...new Catalog is coming! Do you have yours coming? If you don't have a Demonstrator and would like one let me know.....just hit the contact me button at the top of my blog.

See ya next time!

Super Hero for Autism Blog Hop

Seems fitting don't you think?
How many Superheroes do you know affected by Autism?

I had to use the Super Hero Stamp Set as that is what I think of people that are affected with Autism, whether it be the individual or the parent or family.
Do you recognize LOVE? Look at a family that loves no matter what.
They are Super Hero's to me! They are LOVE!

Autism Fact #3
Researchers have noted that infants who had early accelerated head growth were at risk for autism.

Several years ago I had this vision to enlighten more people with facts about Autism and make them aware of how Autism affects lives. I have done this through live events for Autism (and in the last three years)  Blog Hops for Autism. It's been incredible to get support from so many Stampin' Up! Demonstrators and our Stamping Families.

Today I am dedicating this Post to Kai

Kai has been diagnosed with Aspergers.
His family didn't know that until recently.

He was born with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, drug exposed, and hiv indeterminate. Withdrawals were horrible as an infant, he became over stimulated so easily and as a result of being exposed to hiv he was on a mass of anti-viral meds. Thankfully, he was cleared of hiv having always been negative. However the FAS and drug exposure has proved to effect his entire life.

At age 3 he began having massive seizures. (brain trauma that we had no idea was another signal of things to come.) He would have sometimes 15/20 seizures a day. These seizures lasted about a year, then one day they simply disappeared. For that his family have been so very thankful.

Fast forward to Mother’s Day weekend of 2015. This is the weekend he went into his very first Rage episode. It was horrible for both the family and Kai. This weekend began a journey of trying to figure out what is going on and how to get him the help he needs.

Since then, he has been hospitalized 10 times. There was so much we had not yet understood at this point. And getting anyone to spend enough time to help us figure it out seemed impossible.

There have been many doctors, therapist and assessments to help us get a better understanding regarding all the contributing factors.

Here’s what we know today.

Kai is on the high functioning end of the Autism spectrum. (this diagnosis has really helped to explain a lot.) Added to this, the results of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS), Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD), Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD), Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Cerebral Dysrhythmia, and Mathematics disorder (basically means he struggles recognizing math symbols, things get switched around as he tries to process them, his math abilities are far below his intellect and overall education as a result.) Recently his psychiatrist, and another expert in the field stated that Kai’s complicating factors are very rare. His doctor told us he had only ever seen a very few children with these degree of complexity.

This all plays out every day with him struggling with impulsiveness, obsessive behavior, sensory issues, mood and emotion regulation difficulties, going from easy going to explosive anger, anxiety, and on and on. He has to work so hard around others to try and “keep” them from seeing how much he struggles even with simple interactions.

I can't imagine even a day in Kai's shoes, can you?

So in honor of my Hero "Kai" I will send via email three Technique Tutorials to anyone donating $25 or more. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for reading my "Why"
Please help if you can. Make sure to send me your address when you donate to my email at the top of my blog where it says "Contact Me"

Want to travel so some other blogs to see what they've been up to? You'll be glad you did!

Touches of Texture in Sepia

Hi Everyone,
I'd like to share a fun technique with you today. It's the "Faux Sepia Technique". It's so fun and easy...you'll love it or at least I hope you will. lol

What a great technique using minimal supplies. Love when that happens and I don't have to pull out everything I own.
I'll be doing my Technique Class featuring this technique this month. I hope they enjoy it.

Say, how would you like to get a set up for this card and a copy of the Tutorial?
Just let me know.
Just place an order on my website and it's yours!
I will email the directions and send the cut kit snail mail right to your mailbox.
Here are the supplies needed....

Don't forget that I'm having a Blog Hop this Saturday for Autism Awareness. You won't want to miss it. So mark your calendar and check it out.

That's it for today.
Have a glorious day and do something fun....like stamping! lol

Springtime Birthday with Window Box Thinlits and more......

Hi Everyone,
Spring has sprung in most places but especially in Florida.
With that I had to do this card in Springtime Colors. I hope you enjoy it.

I used Peekaboo Peach and Flirty Flamingo. I love, love, love this combo.
So bright and cheerful, don't you think?
I cased this from Tammy C but changed all the colors.

I've been busy with a few other projects as usual. This past week we had to (wanted to) stuff 1000 Plastic Eggs with goodies for the kids at a local school for the Exceptional.

Now that's some EGGS huh? Love that I and my Civitan Club can help others like this.

So we went early to hide the eggs and had about 200 kids come through at the school. Some in Wheel Chair, some assisted by personal aids and some with Autism. You know how attached I am to raising Autism Awareness. It's so important to help!

Love this little girl....she is right in front of some eggs (shown below) but she'd rather pick some flowers for the person that was helping her. Love that!

This little girl was so excited but never kept anything for herself but shared with others.

This is her friend in the chair....she kept him readily supplied with candy, that's for sure!
How special that innocence is and the unconditional friendship they share. It always touches my heart!!
!

Now if we can just teach him to not eat the wrappers of the candy we'd have it made.

Special Thanks to my Civitan Group for helping these kids. They both rock my world! Check out the little Civi-tot! Isn't he darling. Got to start them young on understanding, right?

I will be Hosting a Special Autism Blog Hop next Saturday. I hope you will us and if you can donate a little for Autism Research. If we all band together and give just $1 we could change the world and make great strides in Autism Research.

Here is my link just in case  you'd like to donate today....

Have I said how much I appreciate you visiting and putting up with my inconsistent blogging? If not I do appreciate you but this is the reason why.

Happy Easter to you all.

See you soon,

Lee
